We are pleased to announce that Simon Lake, General Manager at McLaren Group, will give the keynote address at the HRAL AGM on 12th April. Following a successful early career in property with Fidelity Investments, Prudential and Chesterton, Simon moved to Toyota. In 2001 the company entered Formula 1 motor racing and he became involved in logistics operations for the Toyota test and race team. In 2007 he became McLaren Group’s General Manager, where he is responsible for managing the operations, McLaren campus, property portfolio, McLaren Group’s environmental activities, new projects and a myriad of activities that fall into the ‘general’ category.

HRA Annual General Meeting – a great turnout

April 12, 2010

I attended my first Annual General Meeting as an official Committee member on 7 April 2010. If I’m honest I’m not sure I was expecting such a large turnout for what is, as AGMs often are, a fairly technical meeting to elect officers and approve the accounts.

Well, over 70 residents made the effort to come to the Village Hall, despite BBC’s Question Time being recorded live at the HG Wells Centre on the same night.  We even ran out of chairs!(Luckily I was sitting on the stage taking photos, otherwise it would have been the floor for me.)

Rob Harris, our Chair, ran through his report quickly, and Janice Worgan, our outgoing Treasurer presented the accounts, in the black thanks to her tight financial management. A full report with photos will appear in the June issue of The Resident.

We were then proud to present David Robbins and Paul Rimmer from the Horsell Common Preservation Society, who gave a great talk about the history of the Common and HCPS, and its management today, including the successes such as McLaren’s involvement with Heather Farm and helping to save Pyrford Common. HCPS, like Horsell Residents’ Association, is a members organisation, and relies on members subscriptions for funding. If you enjoy walking or cycling on the Common, please consider becoming a member.
